Description
This pair of Kjærnulf Danish oak lounge chairs is a rare find as a complete set. Made in the 1960s by Henning Kjærnulf, they come with the original ottoman. The carved oak frames and striped green upholstery are typical of his style. He favored warm natural materials and considered proportions. As a result, these chairs work well in a living room, study, or sitting area without demanding attention.
Kjærnulf Danish oak lounge chairs like these are increasingly hard to source as a matched pair. Furthermore, finding them with the original ottoman makes this set especially desirable. At 31 inches wide and 32 inches tall, they are built for real comfort. The seat depth is a generous 20.5 inches. In addition, the ottoman at 14 inches in diameter rounds out the set naturally. It pairs easily with either chair.
Both frames are sturdy. There are only minor water spots to the oak. The upholstery is clean and intact, with two small holes noted in the photos. There are no odors. For more on Henning Kjærnulf and his place in Danish Modern furniture history, the Danish Museum of Art & Design is an excellent resource.
